Balancing Rock
Updated 28 Dec 2013
Balancing rock is a glacial erratic that sits atop the northern side of Peach Cliff overlooking Okanagan Falls. The composition of both Balancing Rock and Cliff is Marama Formation volcanics. As Peach cliff is the only close source of this type of rock, the balancing rock was not transported very far, likely having been plucked by glaciers from the upstream (north) side of Peach Cliff. The rock was deposited as the glaciers melted away at the end of the Fraser glaciation.
